I’m in love with my best friend

When you're in love with your best friend, you marry them

As I sit outside, writing my first blog post on this beautiful day in March, I can’t help but wonder how did I get so lucky? I have a roof over my head, running water, enough food to eat, plenty of shoes to put on my feet, and a wonderful best friend.

I’ve been blessed enough to find my best friend in this crazy world and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him. Yep, thats right! I get to marry him in just about 3 months, and honestly there are days we are tempted to just go to the courthouse, but then we think about all the fun we’ll have at our ceremony and reception and we realized it is worth waiting for. The day we get to stand up in front of our family and friends and say, “I Do,” will be an amazing emotion I can’t wait to describe.

Cale, (my fiance) is my favorite farmer. As a farmer, he is always on-call, and works everyday of the year.

Yes, everyday of the year. Now, yes, we do take a couple of days to go have a mini-vacay to Kansas City to watch the Royals play, and we try to visit my family on the other side of the state as often as we can, but as a farmer, you don’t always get to do what you want, when you want. I’ve got different examples of how we miss out on certain things, but I also have so many reasons why I wouldn’t change the way we live our lives.

Cale isn’t quite the exact opposite of me, but we are different in many ways. For example, Cale is an EARLY riser. I, on the other hand, wish it didn’t get light until 9 or 10 in the morning. Cale is an extremely practical and rational person, and, well, I think you can guess what the opposites of those are! I love to say what I’m thinking, and I’m an impulsive shopper for sure!

Would I want it any other way? NO WAY!

I love being able learn something new from Cale everyday, and to be able to have different points of view makes us both be able to grow together.

When you find that person you can talk to about absolutely anything, you can’t wait for them to come home at night, who you count on to hold your hair when you’re throwing up, and who will be by your side even in the worst of times, don’t wait around and do nothing about it. Tell that person how you feel and who knows, they could end up being that person you get to wake up to every morning. Haven’t found that person? I believe that there is someone out there looking for you, just as you are looking for them.

As Stella said to Ted in ‘How I Met Your Mother,’

“I know that you are tired of waiting, and you may have to wait a little while more, but she’s on her way, Ted. And she’s getting here as fast as she can.”

Have you found your best friend? Tell me about it in the comments!
